A little history…

Why the name “La Commanderie”

After 1180 the Hospitalers of Saint-John of Jerusalem came to Rustiques. They built the church and the Commanderie as a home for old and sick Hospitalers, it became “Hospital of Rustiques”to tnurse the lepers.

After the French Revolution the Commanderie became a private wine estate.

In 1970 Mister Marchand bought this wine estate/domain La Commanderie. And he started as wine-grower. He then opened the campsite in 1986 and he gave her the name of his domain, the Commanderie, Camping La Commanderie.
